Asbestos Surveys

Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations, places onerous duties on those responsible for the management of non-domestic buildings within the United Kingdom which means if you are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the buildings you may be deemed to be the ‘Duty Holder’.

Asbestos a category 1 carcinogen is now banned from use in the UK, however buildings constructed before the year 2000 could contain asbestos. This means that anyone who works on the fabric of the building may become exposed. As a consequence, legislation now requires the Duty Holder to find, locate, record and assess any asbestos containing or presumed asbestos containing materials within their premises.
